Prenatal Acupuncture & Birth Support in Brooklyn

A continuum of clinical care from the first trimester through the fourth.

Pregnancy is a metabolic marathon. Growing a new human system from scratch requires a massive recruitment of maternal resources—expanding blood volume, shifting hormones, and rapidly adapting skeletal structure. Standard prenatal care often focuses on screening for pathology, but rarely provides tools to manage the intense physiological demands placed on the birthing person.

At Brooklyn Qi, my prenatal care bridges this gap. Drawing on my dual expertise as a Licensed Acupuncturist and Certified Birth Doula, I provide trimester-specific interventions. By regulating your nervous system, aligning your pelvic structure, managing inflammation, and keeping your emotions regulated, we ensure that resources are efficiently distributed to the placenta and your vital systems, preparing your body for the profound work of birth.

Targeted support for every stage of your expansion:

Common Questions

Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?

Yes. When performed by a licensed acupuncturist with specific obstetric training, acupuncture is well-tolerated across all trimesters. Certain points are intentionally avoided during pregnancy; treatment protocols are adapted trimester by trimester based on your presentation and stage.

When should I start prenatal acupuncture?

Treatment can begin as early as three months before you and your partner plan to conceive. We support you through every stage of pregnancy, helping you navigate symptoms as they arise. In the first trimester, acupuncture is particularly effective for managing nausea, fatigue, and early hormonal dysregulation. During the second trimester, we focus on structural support and emotional preparation for your upcoming transition. In the third trimester, our care shifts toward managing late-stage fatigue and preparing the body by promoting cervical ripening."

Can acupuncture help turn a breech baby?

Moxibustion applied to acupoint BL-67 has been studied as a method of encouraging spontaneous version in breech presentation, with the strongest evidence base when initiated between weeks 34 and 37. Outcomes vary; success depends on gestational age, amniotic fluid levels, and pelvic geometry.

Do you work alongside OBs and midwives?

Yes. Brooklyn Qi functions as an integrative adjunct to your existing obstetric care team. Treatment notes and clinical reasoning are available to share with your provider on request. We do not replace standard prenatal monitoring or medical management.

What does postpartum treatment address?

The postpartum period draws heavily on blood volume and hormonal reserves. Treatment focuses on restoring iron and fluid depletion, regulating cortisol, supporting lactation, and addressing scar tissue from perineal repair or cesarean incision. Home visits are available for postpartum care.
